Maritime Alps: Three Hikes above the Tinée valley
The Tinée river has created the deepest valley in the french maritime Alps. Hiking here means suffering large differences in altitude, with superb views and a lot of diversity as rewards. Adding to this diversity is the fact that Roure, our 'base camp' overlooking the Tinée from a balcony position, is situated right at the border between Alps and Méditerranée.

In the perched village of Roure the Alpine climate meets the mediterranean. Add to that a balcony location facing south and you'll understand why snow never stays long. Photo Paul Smit.
