In the 1920s Dutch housing acquired international fame with the so-called Amsterdamse School. This architectural style was characterized by curving sculptural forms, realized by the imaginative use of brick. After 1985 interest in creative housing architecture reemerged. This time an array of new building materials supported an explosion of new forms and colours in the built environment.
