Smit & Palarczyk > [GERMANY.BAWU 00700] 'Meersburg.' It is the combination of a mild climate, friendly scenery and picturesque old towns like Meersburg that makes the Bodensee attractive. A fleet of round-trip-boats connects all towns and sites. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [GERMANY.BAWU 00710] 'Meersburg vineyards.' Most people don't leave Meersburg, one of the top attractions at the Bodensee, for a walk. And that's a pity, because it is surrounded by vineyards. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [GERMANY.BAWU 00720] 'Stone Age village.' West African huts? Tahiti shore? Rather a German Stone Age lake-dwelling, reconstructed in the Pfahlbau open air museum in Unteruhldingen. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [GERMANY.BAYER 00681] 'Port of Lindau.' Let's be honest: calling Lindau the 'Venice of Bavaria' is overstated, allthough indeed it's situated on an island. The other slogan fits better: 'the happy end of Germany'. Waterside terraces overlook the port. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [GERMANY.BAWU 00711] 'Meersburg lakeside.' Meersburg is the most visited town at the Bodensee, because of its picturesque historical centre. Busy during the day, its evenings have a calmer flair. Then the lakeside promenade is where you want to be. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [SWITZER.MITTEL 00861] 'Steckborn am See 1.' Now and then it seems the 19th century Bodensee idyll still exists. The soft light, pastel colours, a romantic little castle at the shore and a dreaming girl with her cat. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [SWITZER.MITTEL 00872] 'Schloß Arenenberg.' The terrace of Schloß Arenenberg has a nice view over lake Untersee. Here Napoleon III grew up. His mother, queen of Holland during Napoleon I, found asylum here after the defeat of Waterloo. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [GERMANY.BAYER 00683] 'Pause at Wasserburg.' The popularity of cycling has grown so much, that the Bodensee is now Europe's bike destination no. 1, mostly thanks to the Bodensee-Radwanderweg. It's a signposted roundtrip that mostly avoids busy traffic and walkers as well. Photo Paul Smit.
Smit & Palarczyk > [GERMANY.BAWU 00784] 'Port of Konstanz.' Permanently turning around her axis, legendary hooker Imperia shows her beauty to whoever enters the port of Konstanz. During the days of the Council of Constance pope and emperor were in her spell. Photo Paul Smit.
