'Convent Cathedral.'

	The golden domes and white walls of the Cathedral in Suzdal's Intercession (Pokrovski) Convent catch the last rays of a setting sun. 'Troitsa festivities-4.'

	During Troitsa (Whit Sunday) festivities in Suzdal a woman wears a wreath of birch twigs. The birch personifies the renewal of life in spring. Photo Mick Palarczyk.

'Suzdal from the west.'

	On the plains west of Suzdal the River Kamenka is meandering towards the town's many churches and monasteries. In the winter of 1238 Mongolian horsemen galloped across these fields to destroy Suzdal. Photo Mick Palarczyk.

'Spaso-Yevfimiev Monastery.'

	On the high eastern bank of the Kamenka River the Spaso-Yevfimiev Monastery is protected by sturdy walls. This Suzdalian monastery was founded in the 14th century to protect the northern entrance to the town. Its wooden structures were later replaced by stone buildings. 'Suzdalian bell-ringer.'

	In the 17th century belfry of the Spaso-Yevfimiev Monastery a master bell-ringer is pulling the strings that are attached to the clappers of the bells, which remain stationary themselves. Photo Mick Palarczyk.

	On the bank of the Kamenka River Suzdal's Spaso-Yevfimiev Monastery is protected by 17th century walls. Above it rises the big square southern entrance tower. The monastery houses several museums of religious art. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
