Nepal: Performance Art in Kathmandu Valley - paulsmit
’Hanuman with a mouthful.’

Owing to his ability to ward of evil spirits, the Hindu monkey god Hanuman is one of the most popular gods in Nepal. His statues are often covered in vermilion paste and clad in a yellow robe. This example, which has received a small fruit in its mouth during a puja offering, can be found on Kathmandu's Hanuman Ghat. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
