Nepal: Performance Art in Kathmandu Valley - paulsmit
’Sad looking Hanuman.’

Owing to his ability to ward of evil spirits, the Hindu monkey god Hanuman is one of the most popular gods in Nepal. His statues are often clad in a yellow robe. This example can be found near the village of Sinamangal, just east of Kathmandu. Yellow and red powder has been smeared on the statue during a puja offering. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
