’Swastikas on royal throne.’

The Manimandapa pavilion (1701) on Patan's Durbar Square protects a royal throne from the elements. Seen here is the backside of the throne which is decorated with a royal inscription surrounded by snakes and two swastika's (holy Hindu symbols) in red powder. To the right the entrance to the Bishwanath Temple (dedicated to Shiva) is guarded by two elephants. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
