Nepal: Hiking the Rhododendron Forests
Nepal: Dreaming awake - hiking the Rhododendron Forests near Annapurna
In march and april the rhododendron forests flower in the foothills of the Annapurna. Between 2300 and 3200 meters altitude you walk under blossoming trees large as full grown oaks, against the backdrop of snow-covered seven- and eight-thousanders. However hard you pinch yourself, you do not wake up from this dream. Photos by Paul Smit and Mick Palarczyk.

Such teahouses can be found anywhere along the trekking routes in the Annapurna region and provide food and simple accommodation for the trekkers. Photo Mick Palarczyk & Paul Smit.
