[CHINA.GUANGDONG 25.152] ’Burning the Kitchen God.’ On the eve of Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) a villager is burning a picture of the Kitchen God at Ren Heng, west of Foshan. The god has been glued to the kitchen wall during the whole year and has witnessed all the family’s good and bad deeds. In the form of smoke he is now sent to heaven to report on the family.
