'Entrance of Halime Hatun mausoleum.'

The polygonal mausoleum on the cemetery of Gevas was built in 1335 for Halime Hatun, a female member of a local Seljuk noble family. Near the top a band containing a verse from the Koran runs right round the body of the structure. Gevas is situated on the southern shore of Lake Van. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
