'Akdamar Island in Lake Van.'

Akdamar is a small island in Lake Van situated about 3 km from the southern shore. In the 10th century AD one of the royal residences of the Armenian Vaspurakan kingdom was situated on the island. The only remaining building of that residence is the famous Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
