Yemen is an undiscovered pearl which lies hidden in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It has spectacular mountain scenery, green oasis and windswept rocky deserts. It's cultural treasures are just as divers: from intricately decorated villages, medieval souqs and sumptuous palaces to ancient mud-built skyscrapers occupied by black-robed witches.
[YEMEN.NORTH 26327] 'Cloud shadows near Shargi.' In the rainy season thunderstorms build up during the afternoon over the Jebel Haras mountains. Sunlight playing through the clouds give the landscape a dramatic appearance, as here around the village of Shargi, southeast of Manakha. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
