Scotland: Isle of Skye - paulsmit
‘The Needle.’

On Skye's Trotternish Peninsula the steep escarpment of the Quiraing offers some of the island's most dramatic landscapes. The 'Needle' is one of the jagged pinnacles at the foot of the ridge. They were formed as a result of massive landslides in which layers of basalt lava's slumped down from the top of the escarpment over older relatively weak sedimentary rocks. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
