‘Glendale watermill.’

Glendale watermill is situated at a bay on the west coast of Skye. Via a wooden gutter a small brook delivers its water on the upper part of the iron (overshot) wheel. Crofters once brought their grain by sea, some from as far away as the Outer Hebrides. They even brought their own supply of peat which was used in the drying kiln (the now roofless building on the right) to reduce the moisture content of the grain prior to grinding.
