‘Holy Cliffs at Elgol.’
The Skye coast near Elgol offers views across Loch Scavaig with the Cuillins on the northern horizon. The 'Holy Cliffs', seen here in the foreground, consist of Jurassic sandstone. Its quartz grains are cemented together by chalk particles, as a result of which they have 'weathered-out' in an irregular manner to give a curious 'honeycomb' effect. Photo Mick Palarczyk.
